Every dollar counts when it comes to charitable giving, and Kennedy Krieger is no stranger to this philosophy. When Whole Foods Market agreed to designate Kennedy Krieger as the recipient of its 5% Day on Dec. 8, the Institute spread the word. Community members heard the news, wrote their shopping lists and supported the Institute by shopping at Whole Foods, which then contributed 5 percent of the day’s total sales—more than $7,300—to Kennedy Krieger. Both of Baltimore’s Whole Foods locations—in Mt. Washington and Harbor East—participated.
These donations will help the Institute construct its new building in East Baltimore, which will provide children with comprehensive outpatient programs in one location and better access to all components of developmental health. The Institute is excited to expand, and, thanks to local donors who shopped at Whole Foods on 5% Day, Kennedy Krieger is one step closer to opening the doors of the new building.
