The 19th annual Kennedy Krieger Society reception was held on May 21, 2015, at the home of Blake and Angie Cordish. Notable guests included members of the Kennedy Krieger Society—a distinguished group of donors who make an annual gift of $1,000 or more. The reception was kicked off by Board Chairman Howard Miller, who welcomed and thanked Society members for their generosity and invaluable support to the Institute.
The Henry A. Rosenberg, Jr. Community Award was presented to Dulany Dent. For the past three years, Dulany has served as president of the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) for Kennedy Krieger Institute. WIN is a volunteer organization of more than 70 members dedicated to raising awareness of the Institute by promoting and facilitating volunteerism that assists families who utilize Kennedy Krieger programs and services.
Mr. Miller presented the Institute’s Volunteer of the Year Award to Mark Harrison, Dan Connole, and David and Joanne Sawczuk for raising more than $80,000 in the first annual Northern Virginia Security Forum golf charity tournament. The Sawczuk’s son, Ben, was treated for a brain injury at the Institute. After co-chairs Dan Connole and Mark Harrison heard about the Sawczuk’s experience, and Ben’s remarkable recovery with the help of Kennedy Krieger Institute, Dan and Mark named the Brain Injury Clinical Research Center at Kennedy Krieger as beneficiary of the event.
