SPECIAL EVENTS

Bands on the Bay

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Bands on the Bay LogoBands on the Bay is a concert and auction fundraiser supporting the Hunter Nelson Sturge-Weber Center at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Held every spring in Friendship Maryland, Bands on the Bay promises a fun-filled day of live music, silent and live auctions, and great food and drink on the Chesapeake Bay. This year's event will feature music by The Doug Segree Band, Orlando Phillips, and Jefe Solo.

Bands on the Bay was created by the DeCesaris and Heck families following the birth of Jenna Heck, who was diagnosed with a congenital neurological disorder called Sturge-Weber Syndrome (SWS).

For more information about Bands on the Bay or to show your support for individuals with Sturge-Weber syndrome by purchasing tickets, donating auction items, becoming an event sponsor, or making a donation, visit www.bandsonthebay.org.

ROAR for Autism

Sunday, April 25, 2010

ROAR for Autism is a bike ride, nature walk, and family festival dedicated to raising critically needed funds for autism research at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. The event, which will be held at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Maryland, is a great way to honor the end of Autism Awareness Month. Participants may choose to ride 50, 25, 10, or 5 miles, or walk the park's nature trails. There is also a low-mileage ride for the kids. Live entertainment, refreshments, and one of the area's most impressive playgrounds make ROAR a great event for the whole family. Don't forget to also help spread the word by creating an online fundraising page where you can tell family and friends that you are participating in ROAR, build your own team, post pictures, and track donations.

To register for ROAR or for more information, please visit roar.kennedykrieger.org or call the Office of Development at 443-923-7300.

Volunteers are always welcome:

In addition to corporate sponsorship, volunteer opportunities are available for individuals and corporations who are interested in donating their time and talents. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that "Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?" Volunteering can be a very rewarding answer to that question. Volunteers are needed for all of our special events and are always welcome and much appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering for these or any other events, please use this special events volunteer form to keep your address up-to-date in our database.

Individuals who are interested in obtaining more information about these events or are interested in helping Kennedy Krieger by organizing a benefit or by volunteering as a fundraiser, should contact Michelle Huffman at 443-923-7300.
